Is your water level seeming a little low ?  Noticing a small decrease each night?  Don’t panic.  There is a large possibility it’s just evaporation.  Evaporation rates depend on both geographic and environmental factors, but you can expect to lose about a quarter inch to a half an inch of water each day.  This is common when the days are very hot, but the nights are cooler.  The best way to check if you have a leak or it’s just evaporation is to do the bucket test.

Using a bucket, fill it one inch from the top with pool water.  Immerse the bucket into the pool by setting it on the first or second step of the pool.  Mark the water level inside the bucket and the water level outside the bucket.  Come back in 24 hours to compare the inside water level to the outside water level.  If the water level outside the bucket has dropped more then the water level inside the bucket, then you may have a leak in your pool.  If both the outside and inside dropped about the same, it’s just evaporation.
